Republican Eric J. Tatum is running against Democrat Mo Ivory for Fulton County Commission chair in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The countywide contest covers Fulton residents, including those in north Fulton.
Tatum’s campaign biography says he has been a Georgia attorney since 2011, working primarily in family, juvenile and adoption law. It identifies him as a partner and chief financial officer at Banks, Stubbs & McFarland.
Audits, taxes and public safety
Tatum proposes audits of major county spending areas, tighter control of property taxes and greater accountability for services. His platform also calls for addressing jail conditions, prioritizing public safety and courthouse funding, combating human trafficking and improving trust in elections administration.
These are the campaign’s stated priorities. The website reviewed does not provide a detailed project budget, identify all proposed spending reductions or quantify a promised property-tax change.
The chair’s authority
The chair leads a seven-member commission, with six district commissioners and one member elected countywide. Budget, tax and policy decisions require board action; the chair cannot enact them alone or independently direct criminal prosecutions.
For residents, the proposals could affect county spending, courts and service delivery. Specific savings, new funding sources and implementation dates were not established in the materials reviewed.
The Sandy Springs Record did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
