Riverwood International Charter School needs a new head girls varsity soccer coach. The Sandy Springs program went 19-2 and reached the Class 5A quarterfinal in spring 2026.

The school's athletic department posted the opening on X on Monday, Oct. 19, calling it an "immediate opening" and inviting applicants to "join a soccer program with a proud tradition of success." The listing did not explain why the position is vacant.

Tony Martinez Lopez coached the Raiders during the 2025-26 season, according to MaxPreps. Under his direction, Riverwood went undefeated in 5A Region 6 play at 7-0 and earned the region title.

The Raiders' postseason run was one of the program's best. Riverwood shut out Lee County 3-0 on April 21 and routed Rome 6-2 on April 28 before falling to Roswell 1-2 in the quarterfinal state final on May 4.

Martinez Lopez also led the program during the 2024-25 season, when the Raiders went 13-6. Before his arrival, the team went 10-10 in 2023-24 with no head coach listed on MaxPreps and 4-11 in 2022-23 under Madison Fletcher.

The new coach will inherit a program moving up in classification. GHSA's 2026-27 region alignments place Riverwood in Region 7-AAAAAA, a jump from 5A to 6A. The Raiders will face Alpharetta, Gainesville, Johns Creek, Lanier, Milton and Roswell in region play.

PJ Graybeck is the school's athletic director, according to the Riverwood athletics website. The school has not announced a timeline for filling the position.
