Sandy Springs voters who want to vote by mail in the Nov. 3 general election must request an absentee ballot by Friday, Oct. 23.

After that deadline, voters can still cast ballots during early voting or on Election Day. The governor's race and U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff's Senate seat are on the ballot.

Fulton County's absentee voting page lists two ways to request a ballot. Voters can upload a signed application through the Georgia Secretary of State's Absentee Ballot Request Portal online. They can also download the application and email it to [email protected].

Fulton County had accepted 14,060 absentee ballot applications as of Oct. 14, according to the county's unofficial absentee report. The county had mailed 12,137 ballots by that date.

How to return a completed ballot

Voters have three options to return their absentee ballots before polls close on Election Day, according to Fulton County Registration and Elections.

They can mail ballots to: Fulton County Registration and Elections, Absentee Ballot Division, 5600 Campbellton Fairburn Road, Union City, GA 30213. They can also use a drop box at a designated early voting location during advance voting hours. A third option is dropping the ballot off at a county elections office. The closest office for Sandy Springs residents is the North Annex at 7741 Roswell Road, Room 251.

Absentee ballots cannot be returned at early voting locations that lack a drop box and cannot be returned at Election Day polling places, according to the county's absentee voting page. Voters with questions can email [email protected].

Voters can track their ballot status through the Secretary of State's My Voter Page.

Fulton County announced the locations on Oct. 1:

  • North Fulton Service Center, 7741 Roswell Road

  • Sandy Springs Library, 395 Mount Vernon Highway

Early voting hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The early voting period runs through Friday, Oct. 30.

Statewide, more than 190,000 Georgians voted on the first day of early voting, an increase of 55,000 over the 2022 midterm opening day, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said he expects turnout to challenge the 2022 record.

"Voters right now, they are just energized," Raffensperger told Fox 5 Atlanta.
