Voters cast 3,519 ballots at Sandy Springs’ three early voting locations during the first two days of advance voting for the Nov. 3 general election, according to Fulton County’s unofficial figures.
Sandy Springs Library led the local sites with 1,666 ballots — 1,161 on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and 505 on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The North Fulton Service Center recorded 1,426 ballots over the two days, while the North Fulton Training Center recorded 427, according to the county’s unofficial advance voting daily count.
Countywide, voters cast 45,804 early ballots through Oct. 14: 23,845 on opening day and 21,959 the following day. Buckhead Library recorded the highest two-day total at 2,886, followed by Joan P. Garner at Ponce de Leon Library with 2,670.
The location totals do not necessarily reflect turnout among Sandy Springs residents. Fulton County voters may cast early ballots at any advance voting site in the county.
Georgia also set a first-day early voting record for a midterm election. More than 188,600 people voted in person statewide on Oct. 13, approximately 40% more than the 134,962 who voted on opening day in 2022, according to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office.
“This record-breaking turnout proves that voters have confidence in the integrity of our elections,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in a statement.
What’s on the ballot
The ballot includes races for governor, U.S. Senate, lieutenant governor, attorney general and secretary of state, along with county commission and state legislative contests.
Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms faces Republican Rick Jackson for governor. Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Collins is challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, CBS News Atlanta reported.
Fulton County voters will also decide whether to renew the existing 1% Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, known as ESPLOST. The proposal would continue collections beginning July 1, 2027, for up to five years and raise no more than approximately $2.1 billion for educational purposes, according to the county’s election notice.
Separately, the county reported 14,060 accepted absentee ballot applications and 12,137 ballots mailed as of Oct. 14. Election officials had accepted 749 returned absentee ballots, according to the unofficial absentee report.
