Fulton County Vice Chair hosting Oct. 10 domestic violence awareness 5K

Fulton County Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman is hosting a free domestic violence awareness 5K on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Fulton County Executive Airport in Atlanta.

The 3rd Annual Mighty 6 "Cleared for Takeoff" Domestic Violence Awareness 5K, now in its third year, starts at 9 a.m. at 3977 Aviation Circle NW. Registration is free and open through Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11:59 p.m. on RunSignup.

The race is Peachtree Road Race Certified.

Abdur-Rahman, a domestic violence survivor, said the event is personal. "As a domestic violence survivor this is a powerful way to bring the community together to show our support for those impacted by domestic violence," she said in the race listing.

At last year's race on Nov. 1, 2025, Abdur-Rahman told participants: "Having this 5K and bringing awareness to the community lets them know that we hear you, you matter, you're important — and these are resources if you ever need them."

Gates open at 7:30 a.m. for a Pre-Race Wellness Village featuring instructor-led stretching, music and nutritious snacks. The warm-up session runs until 8:30 a.m. Participants can also leave messages on a Survivor Tribute Wall honoring those affected by domestic violence.

The race wraps up by 10:30 a.m. with finisher medals, photos and an awards ceremony. Runners can donate to the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) through the registration page.
