The district has updated bus routes for the 2026-27 school year, and some stops and pickup times are different from last year. Parents should open the Here Comes the Bus app or log into the transportation tab in Infinite Campus to confirm their child's assigned stop and morning pickup window before August 3, according to the district's "Know Before You Go" guide.
Riverwood families can also check a dedicated "Determine Your Bus & Route" page on the school's website for campus-specific routing.
Bell schedules: check your school's page
Fulton County elementary schools generally open at 7:40 a.m. and dismiss at 2:20 p.m., but high school hours differ and are posted separately. Families should check the bell schedule pages on the district site or on each school's own page: North Springs lists its hours at northsprings.fultonschools.org, and Riverwood posts its A/B Day and bell schedule at riverwood.fultonschools.org.
Arrival windows, breakfast service and car-rider procedures can vary campus to campus, so the district advises confirming details on the individual school website before that first morning.
Construction at North Springs
North Springs High School is in the middle of a new-building construction project listed under the FCS Capital Plan 2027. Families dropping off or picking up students should expect changes to campus access and traffic flow compared to last spring. The school's website has not posted a specific traffic advisory for August 3, but checking the site before Monday for updates is worth the two minutes.
Meal prices and emergency contacts
Middle and high school breakfast costs $1.85 and lunch runs $3.35 this year. Some qualified students receive meals at no cost. The district is also asking families to review and update emergency contact information in Infinite Campus so staff can reach a parent or guardian quickly if needed.
Supply lists and open houses
Supply lists for North Springs and Riverwood are school-specific and may vary by teacher or course. Families should check each school's website or ParentSquare before buying anything. Neither school's open house or orientation date appeared in district materials as of Wednesday, July 29; parents should watch for announcements on each campus calendar page.
First-week traffic
The first week of school brings longer car lines, buses stopping on neighborhood roads and more pedestrians near school entrances. The North Atlanta Star reported that families driving to school should leave earlier than usual and follow the designated arrival lane. No Sandy Springs-specific road advisory has been issued.
The North Atlanta Star also advises families to drive the morning route once before August 3, including the school entrance and any backup route, because summer traffic patterns will not match a school-day morning.
