Riverwood's cross country runners hit the RICS Track on Monday, August 3, for the program's first practice and time trial of the 2026-27 season.
Head coach Zach McKeone's squad will gather at 3:30 p.m. for an internal fitness assessment. The time trial falls one week before the GHSA's earliest allowable contest date of Monday, August 10, meaning it won't count as a sanctioned meet but will give coaches a baseline on every runner heading into the fall.
The Riverwood Athletics department announced the opener on Friday, July 31, reminding athletes that all RankOne eligibility forms must be completed before they step on the track.
The program spent the spring recruiting. On Thursday, May 28, coaches and team captains hosted a meet-and-greet for rising freshmen and interested athletes at Bruster's Ice Cream on Johnson Ferry Road, where they distributed summer running schedules and signed up newcomers for team communications.
