Riverwood sophomore Andrew Inman took first place at a cross-country meet in Milton on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Classmate Amelia Simcox finished third in the girls race at the same meet, giving the Raider Runners two podium finishes on the day. Both are members of the class of 2029 at Riverwood International Charter School, which competes in GHSA Region 7-6A.
Riverwood Athletics praised the results on X on Sept. 13, calling it a strong showing for the program's young runners.
The Milton results fit a pattern. The duo has led the Raider Runners at every meet this fall.
At the season-opening St. Mary's Race, Inman also finished first in the boys race while Simcox placed second in the girls race, according to a recap on the Riverwood Athletics website. The girls varsity team won that meet outright, and the boys varsity placed second. Coach McKeone noted the squads battled the heat on their way to the hardware.
"Your Riverwood Cross Country teams had a great start to the 2026 season," McKeone wrote in an August recap of the St. Mary's Race on the Riverwood Athletics site.
The program kept rolling at the Wire to Wire Invitational in Cartersville on Sept. 3. The girls team placed second, edging Rome in the final team standings, while the boys finished fifth out of 17 teams.
Three meets into the 2026 season, Riverwood's cross-country squads have collected team or individual hardware at every stop. Inman and Simcox, both just 15 or 16 years old as sophomores, have finished in the top three each time out.
