Kids at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center in Sandy Springs spent their final summer session building solar-powered mini cars, assembling circuits, and creating AI-generated video games. Now the program behind those sessions is launching something new for homeschool families.

We Create Tech, which runs the CreativX Lab at the Fulton County Library System's Central Library, will hold its first Homeschool S.T.E.A.M. Day on Wednesday, August 12, at 11 a.m. at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center. The monthly series, scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month, marks the center's first program aimed specifically at homeschool families, according to a July 28 post on the library system's website.

The announcement came alongside a recap of the summer program's July sessions, led by instructor Mrs. Shana. In one session, students used Loveable AI to build their own games by writing prompts. Students built a cupcake game and a space-themed game.

The final summer session split students into hands-on stations covering solar-powered mini cars, circuit building, and Lego construction. After assembling a solar-powered car indoors, the group took it outside to test it. Studio lights inside the building weren't bright enough to power the car.

The sun came out just in time. The car rolled forward.

Kalee Wiley, a library associate who wrote the recap, said the program hopes to see students return during the school year.

The Best Buy Teen Tech Center is free for teens ages 13–17 and for 18-year-olds with a current high school ID, according to the center's webpage. Families interested in the August 12 session or the Teen Tech Center's other programs can email [email protected] or call 404-613-0259.
