Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul will join all 14 other Fulton County mayors Monday, Aug. 3, for a joint session with the county Board of Commissioners. The meeting will be held at the Fulton County Government Center in Atlanta.
The county announced the session Friday on its official social media channels but did not release an agenda or start time.
No specific topics have been confirmed.
The joint format brings all seven commissioners and all 15 mayors into the same room, a setup that differs from the board's regular biweekly meetings where city leaders are not typically at the table.
What's at stake for Sandy Springs
Sandy Springs sits in Commissioner Dana Barrett's District 3. At the board's July 15 meeting, commissioners considered several items with direct Sandy Springs impact: a land transfer for Roswell Road sidewalk improvements, a sewer relocation deal tied to the SR 400 Express Lanes project, and a $9.48 million grant for a North Fulton behavioral health center.
Whether any of those projects or similar county-city coordination issues will surface Monday is unknown without an agenda.
The county-city relationship in north Fulton carries historical weight. Sandy Springs incorporated in December 2005 in part because residents felt the county was not delivering services proportional to what they paid in taxes. That move sparked a wave of new cities, including Milton and Johns Creek in 2006.
"We weren't getting the services we were paying for," former Sandy Springs Council member Tibby DeJulio said in a February 2026 Axios Atlanta feature marking the city's 20th anniversary.
Who will be in the room
Paul, who has served as mayor since 2013 and won a fourth term in December 2025, will represent Sandy Springs. The seven-member commission is chaired by Robb Pitts. Sandy Springs falls in Barrett's District 3. Other members include Bridget Thorne (District 1), Bob Ellis (District 2), Marvin Arrington Jr. (District 5), and Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman (District 6).

The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Fulton County Government Center, 141 Pryor St. NW, Atlanta. Residents who cannot attend in person can watch live on Fulton Government Television via fultoncountyga.gov or the county's YouTube channel.
