Preparing a temporary fire station on Roswell Road could cost Sandy Springs $515,000 while a permanent station is rebuilt.

The Sandy Springs City Council will consider the construction contract at its Tuesday, Nov. 3, meeting. Council members will also consider approximately $932,583 in first-year contracts for a Salesforce resident services platform. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Sandy Springs City Hall, 1 Galambos Way.

The temporary Fire Station No. 1 at 8615 Roswell Road would maintain emergency response while the permanent station at 1425 Spalding Drive is demolished and reconstructed, Appen Media reported. Staff recommend awarding the build-out contract to F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates.

The project has an available balance of $262,401.50. Staff propose transferring $300,000 from capital contingency to cover construction and associated costs.

Rent is a separate expense. Staff also propose redirecting $534,500 budgeted for fire-apparatus payments, allocating $216,000 to temporary-station rent and $318,500 to general contingency. Final financing terms mean no apparatus payment is required in FY2027, according to reporting citing the staff memos. The proposed reallocations would not increase the overall fiscal-year budget.

The Spalding Drive rebuild is part of a broader fire station overhaul. The city is also renovating Fire Station No. 3 on Raider Drive and relocating Fire Station No. 4 to a new Roswell Road site, according to Rough Draft Atlanta. The projects are funded by $50.5 million in revenue bonds issued in fall 2025.

Former Fire Chief Keith Sanders, now assistant city manager overseeing infrastructure and capital program delivery, is managing the construction projects.

New digital platform for resident services

The council will also consider replacing Lucity with Salesforce as part of the Citywide Digital Service Delivery Project.

The platform would handle call center intake, work orders and asset management. Staff recommend a $711,750 implementation contract with StackNexus and approximately $220,833 to Carahsoft Technology Corp. for first-year Salesforce licensing.

The combined first-year cost falls within the project's $1 million FY2027 budget. A staff comparison estimates Salesforce costs at approximately $1.93 million over five years, according to reporting citing the agenda packet.

Sandy Springs launched Sandy Springs Works in June 2024 for non-emergency requests such as pothole repairs and code enforcement complaints. The city described that web-based platform as a replacement for an older app.

Tuesday's meeting is open to the public and will be streamed through the city's meeting portal.
