Neapolitan pizza restaurant Varuni Napoli will open its first Perimeter Center location on Tuesday, August 5, filling nearly 3,000 square feet on the ground floor of High Street at 101 High St. #300.
Founder Luca Varuni, who grew up in Naples and started cooking at 14, trained under Enzo Coccia at La Notizia before opening his first Atlanta restaurant in Morningside in 2014. A second location inside Krog Street Market followed in 2017. The brand has since earned spots on Atlanta Magazine's 50 Best Restaurants list and a segment on ABC's "Good Morning America."
"The energy, walkability and sense of community at High Street make it a natural fit for our next location," Varuni said in a statement announcing the opening.
The High Street space will include an open kitchen where guests can watch pizzas being made, a bar, a covered patio overlooking The Green, a private chef's room available for events, and a takeout window near the parking garages. The interior is designed to evoke a neighborhood pizzeria in Naples, complete with a replica of the city's famous Maradona mural.
The menu features Varuni Napoli's signature Margherita and Bastardo pizzas, Italian appetizers, desserts, and a wine list. Dishes are prepared with imported Italian ingredients and traditional techniques, according to GID, the development's owner.
High Street is a $2 billion mixed-use development near Dunwoody MARTA Station. At full buildout, the project will include 672,000 square feet of Class A office space, a 400-key hotel, 400,000 square feet of retail and dining, and 3,000 residential units. Current tenants include Nando's PERi-PERi, Velvet Taco, Puttshack, The Hampton Social, and Agave Bandido.
At the Perimeter CIDs' Envision Perimeter event on May 20, submarket analyst Brooke Dewey said, "Projects like High Street are turning Perimeter into a lifestyle-driven destination, not just a traditional office market."
Varuni Napoli has already signed a lease for a fourth location at Centennial Yards in downtown Atlanta, with founder Luca Varuni confirming a 2028 opening to What Now Atlanta. The High Street restaurant opens Wednesday, August 5.
