Josh Brolin sold his gated Sandy Springs estate for $4 million, nearly $1 million below the original $4.999 million asking price, Realtor.com reported.

The "Dune" star and his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, bought the property in 2020 for $3.25 million. They still netted a $750,000 gain on the sale.

The seven-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom home spans 7,700 square feet on 1.48 gated acres. Four fireplaces, cathedral ceilings in the primary suite and a lagoon-style pool anchor the property. A two-level guesthouse sits on the grounds.

Getting to this closing took multiple attempts. The home first appeared on the rental market on March 5, 2024, at $35,000 a month. It was relisted for rent on Feb. 11. The Brolins then pivoted to a sale, listing at $4.999 million on April 17. That listing vanished three days later. It resurfaced on June 8 at $4.75 million before eventually selling at $4 million.

At an Atlanta Film Festival panel on May 2, Brolin was blunt about the neighborhood.

"I like a little grit. You know what I mean? There's not a lot of grit in Sandy Springs," he said at the event.

He called filming the movie "Weapons" in Atlanta a "major plus" because it kept him close to his two young children. The couple purchased a $7.1 million farmhouse in Montecito, Calif., in February 2024.

The sale lands well above Sandy Springs' broader market. Single-family homes posted a median sold price of $1,382,500 in July, up about 31 percent from a year earlier, according to FMLS data compiled by The Agency Atlanta. Median days on market rose to 29 from 13 in the same span.

The buyer has not been publicly identified.
