Sandy Springs residents can catch a free concert by Boyce Avenue, holders of a Guinness World Record as the most-viewed independent band on YouTube, learn to fly fish on the Chattahoochee, and explore the park after dark this weekend.
Boyce Avenue at City Green Live — Friday, July 17
The Sandy Springs Foundation's City Green Live series brings Boyce Avenue to City Green at City Springs on Friday, July 17. The Florida-based trio of brothers Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano rose to fame through acoustic covers and originals on YouTube, where they've racked up more than 6.8 billion views and 16.8 million subscribers, according to the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. They've sold out the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Araneta Coliseum in Manila.
Lawn seating is free. Reserved tables are available by calling the box office at 770-206-2022.
The schedule: City Green opens at 4 p.m., food trucks at 6 p.m., opening act Ashes & Arrows at 7:30 p.m., and Boyce Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Ashes & Arrows, an Asheville, North Carolina, band, reached the semifinals of America's Got Talent in 2024.

Road closures and parking: Mount Vernon Highway from Blue Stone Road to Galambos Way will be closed from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 17, according to the city's event page. Parking is available at the City Springs Parking Deck at 1 Galambos Way and the South Parking Lot at Blue Stone Road and Mount Vernon Highway. Rideshare drop-off is at 215 Johnson Ferry Road. MARTA is also an option.
Introduction to fly fishing — Saturday, July 18
The National Park Service and Trout Unlimited host a free Introduction to Fly Fishing program on Saturday, July 18, at 9 a.m. at Hewlett Field at Island Ford, 8800 Roberts Drive, Sandy Springs. Participants will learn knot-tying and casting on land. The program is open to ages 8 and up, with a 50-person cap. Registration is required at chattahoocheeparks.org/events. A park entrance pass is required ($5 daily or $40 annual).
Twilight Bat Walk — Saturday, July 18
A Twilight Bat Walk begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the Chattahoochee River National Park's Columns Drive Entrance, Cochran Shoals Unit, 152 Columns Drive in neighboring Marietta.
