A 44-year-old grandmother faces involuntary manslaughter charges after investigators determined she failed to supervise her 2-year-old grandson at a Roswell apartment pool, leading to his death last month.

Emeliza Paz-Santos was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Wednesday, July 15, on charges of involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children in the second degree, according to arrest records reported by 11Alive. Jail records also show an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

The Fulton County Jail serves jurisdictions across the county, including Sandy Springs and Roswell.

The child, Axel Delgado, was pulled from the pool at an apartment complex at 1500 Harbor Landing in Roswell on the evening of Sunday, June 21. He died the following day, Monday, June 22.

Arrest warrants state that Paz-Santos was responsible for supervising Delgado at the pool and failed to provide adequate supervision. Investigators built the case using surveillance video from the pool area and witness interviews, according to the warrants.

The warrants conclude that Paz-Santos' neglect caused the child's death.
