The Fulton County Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday, Aug. 19, to formally relocate Medicaid and state credentialing services from the North Fulton Service Center at 7741 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs to a new facility in Alpharetta, while also approving sewer easements for two local development projects.
The contract amendment, approved on the consent agenda without separate discussion, moves services previously offered by Chris 180, Inc. and Grady Health System to the county's $25 million Health & Human Services North facility at 4700 North Point Parkway in Alpharetta. The change carries no additional cost to the county.
The Roswell Road location had served Sandy Springs and North Fulton residents seeking adult and child behavioral health services, open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A Grady Health patient notice indicated the physical move was set for June 30. The Aug. 19 vote formalized the contract change, though it remains unclear whether the Roswell Road site had already stopped offering services before the commission acted.
The Alpharetta facility, a former Comcast call center on a 24-acre site that Fulton County purchased in 2019, opened April 16 after a renovation. It houses behavioral health, developmental disabilities, Board of Health, Senior Services and Recovery Treatment Court programs. The site is accessible via MARTA bus route 140.
District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne, who represents North Fulton, said in a county press release ahead of the facility's April 16 opening that the consolidation was "really about bringing our community together and making these vital services more accessible for everyone."
Sewer easements for two developments
The commission also approved sewer easements for two Sandy Springs properties.
A 14,213-square-foot easement was dedicated by Mohammad Sedehi for the property at 4888 Jett Road NW, a 4.23-acre vacant lot that sold for $2.2 million on March 17. The specific development planned for the site was not detailed in the agenda.
A second easement of 11,541 square feet was dedicated by DRB Group Georgia for The Eighteen, an 18-unit luxury townhome project at 6669 Peachtree Dunwoody Road. According to DRB Homes' listing, the development offers three- and four-bedroom units priced from roughly $685,000 to $746,000.
The commission separately approved a stormwater infrastructure agreement with Brent Hardy and Jennifer Y. Hardy at 455 Highbrook Drive, allowing stormwater infrastructure to remain within an existing county sewer easement.
All Sandy Springs items passed on the consent agenda by a single motion. Residents can track upcoming agendas and submit public comment through the county's Legistar portal.
