Sandy Springs residents who can't make the Saturday morning farmers market will get an after-work alternative this fall: a new city-run Night Market on the north end of Roswell Road.
The city announced Saturday that the Sandy Springs Night Market will launch at River Springs Shopping Center, 8610 Roswell Rd., on the first Thursday of September, October and November. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m.
More than 30 local farmers, food producers, artisans and specialty vendors will sell fresh produce, prepared foods and handcrafted goods, according to the city. The evening window targets shoppers leaving work, a time slot the existing Saturday market at City Springs doesn't cover.
The program is a geographic expansion. The Saturday morning Sandy Springs Farmers Market operates at City Springs, 1 Galambos Way, on the south side of the city. Placing the Night Market at River Springs Shopping Center pushes the city's market footprint north along the Roswell Road corridor.
The city described the Night Market as a community gathering celebrating local agriculture, small businesses and neighborhood connections, saying it was designed to bring new energy to Sandy Springs. Mayor Rusty Paul amplified the announcement on his Facebook page, calling it an extension of the beloved Saturday morning market into an after-work shopping experience.
The three scheduled dates are Thursday, Sept. 3, Thursday, Oct. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 5.
For Roswell Road merchants, the market could bring new evening foot traffic. Vendor names and application details have not been released.
