Pleasant Hill Church will celebrate Dr. Sabin P. Strickland's 30th year as senior pastor with a Praise Walk fundraiser on Saturday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m. at 725 Pleasant Hill St. in Roswell.

The event, organized by Mary Glover, combines a community walk with food, a kid zone, and vendor booths. Local businesses and artisans are invited to set up at the event, and participants can register as individuals or join fundraising teams with names like "Glow Getters," "Sassy Sisters," and "Cake Walker."

As of July 13, the campaign had raised $1,370 through its Givebutter page. Proceeds will cover pastoral appreciation expenses, guest ministry support, and a contribution toward hiring a youth pastor for the congregation.

A pastor who grew up across the street

Dr. Strickland has led Pleasant Hill Church since August 1996. According to the church's website, he grew up in Roswell directly across the street from the building. As a child, he played church on the front steps, using sticks and rocks as his congregation.

Before taking the senior pastor role, Dr. Strickland served as interim pastor at St. John of Cleveland, Georgia, and spent several years as youth pastor at Pleasant Hill. He holds dual doctoral degrees in theology from Liberty University and in ministry from Fuller University.

Pleasant Hill Church, founded in 1847, operates the Hands of Mercy Extended Food Pantry on-site every other Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., serving neighbors in English and Spanish.

The Praise Walk is open to the community. Residents can donate or register as vendors at givebutter.com/praise-walk-xe9lzr. For questions, Pleasant Hill Church can be reached at (770) 993-2707.
