Ridgeview Charter Middle School in Sandy Springs holds a free ESOL Night for families of English Learners on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 5:30 p.m.

The English to Speakers of Other Languages program helps students build proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing so they can succeed in academic subjects. A school flyer describes the program as federally funded and says the session will explain how it supports English Learners across the curriculum. The flyer is printed in both English and Spanish.

The session takes place in the media center at 5340 S. Trimble Road. All parents, families and community members can attend at no cost.

Interpreter services will be available, but the flyer asks families to contact the school at least 10 days before the event. Families who still need an interpreter should reach out to Ms. Soledad as soon as possible at (470) 254-8589.

Ridgeview is one of two public middle schools serving Sandy Springs within Fulton County Schools. The school also operates a Title I and Parent Resource Center, which updated its page on Aug. 27 ahead of the new school year.

The district's ESOL program is open to all English Learners in Fulton County who meet eligibility criteria set by the Georgia Department of Education, according to the district's ESOL page. The program focuses on building language skills that help students perform better academically and participate more fully in school life. Dr. Wendy Newbold serves as the district ESOL coordinator, and Mary Frost is the Title III specialist for middle schools.

Families with questions can reach the district ESOL office at (470) 254-6827 or Ms. Soledad at Ridgeview at (470) 254-8589.
