The Riverwood Athletic Association is asking Raiders fans to grab dinner and support the program at a "Battle of Sandy Springs" Spirit Night fundraiser Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Hudson Grille on Roswell Road.

The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 6317 Roswell Road. A portion of sales during that window will benefit Riverwood athletics, though the exact percentage has not been announced.

The timing is no accident.

The fundraiser lands two days before Riverwood's football season opener against rival North Springs on Friday, Aug. 21, giving fans a chance to rally together before kickoff.

Riverwood Athletics announced the event on its official X account Aug. 13, linking to a details page on the program's website.

The RAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises funds to supplement Fulton County's budget for student-athletes. Past projects include the Hoskyn Stadium scoreboard and speakers, weight room equipment, Hudl and TeamSnap subscriptions for all teams, and the NFHS Live Video Program, according to the school's athletics page.

The Spirit Night comes during a busy stretch for Raider athletics. The softball team swept the Battle of Sandy Springs tournament Aug. 5–6, beating Holy Innocents', Mount Vernon and North Springs. The football team held a Community Night scrimmage at Hoskyn Stadium on Aug. 13.

First-year head football coach Josh Coffey, who came to Riverwood from Denmark High School where he was offensive coordinator, told the Fulton Neighbor on Aug. 12 that the booster club has been central to building the program's new culture.

"The booster club has been amazing, establishing the culture we want to establish and they've been all in on all that," Coffey said. "They're very supportive, from the ad men to the boosters to just everywhere in the building."

Riverwood went 1-9 last season and competes in GHSA Region 7-6A. The Raiders open against North Springs on Aug. 21, with region play beginning Oct. 2 at Alpharetta.
