Riverwood football returns to Hoskyn Stadium on Friday, Aug. 7, when the Raiders host Centennial High School in a 7:30 p.m. preseason scrimmage. It's the first live action of the 2026-27 season for head coach Josh Coffey's squad.

Riverwood Athletics announced the scrimmage on Wednesday, directing fans to RiverwoodAthletics.com for game-day details.

The matchup gives Sandy Springs fans their first look at a Raiders roster that sent four players to the Fulton County Schools Football Media Day at the College Football Hall of Fame on July 24. Beck Smith, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound tight end and Class of 2027 prospect, headlined the group alongside teammates Jaden Keys, Tison Fleming and Jake Kaplan.

Coffey enters his first full season with a revamped coaching staff. Assistant head coach Robert Hicks, a first-team All-SEC lineman at Mississippi State who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft, has been at Riverwood since 2019. New additions include co-defensive coordinators Chris Wilkerson and Rico Lyons, plus special teams coordinator Jonathan Beverly, who is entering his 20th year coaching football. Patrick Hope and Reggie Norwood Jr., both Riverwood alumni from the Class of 2017, round out a staff with deep ties to the program.

Centennial, a Fulton County school in Roswell, opens its own regular season Aug. 20 against Dunwoody in the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic.

What fans need to know

Tickets are available through GoFan, and digital season-ticket packages are sold through the Riverwood Athletic Association. Fulton County Schools enforces a clear bag policy at Hoskyn Stadium, and there is no reentry once fans are inside. Those who cannot attend can stream the game via the NFHS Network.

Friday's scrimmage is a tune-up before the Raiders' regular-season opener at rival North Springs on Friday, Aug. 21. Riverwood competes in GHSA Region 7-6A.
