Sandy Springs' free Bavarian festival OktoberFEAST returns to City Springs for a third year on Oct. 17-18, bringing pretzels, schnitzel, German beer and live polka music to the City Green.
The city announced the two-day event will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 1 Galambos Way. Admission and tent seating are free. The event is rain or shine.
The menu includes warm Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese dip, German sausages, chicken schnitzel and spätzle, with food available for purchase. Guests 21 and older can buy seasonal German beers, Oktoberfest-style lagers and traditional Glühwein with a wristband.
The Swinging Bavarians will perform polkas, traditional Oktoberfest tunes and crowd favorites both days.
The city's announcement promises "even more authentic Bavarian traditions" compared to prior years, though the City Springs event page notes that additional entertainment and activities will be "announced soon."
OktoberFEAST debuted in October 2024 as a city-produced signature event. That first year featured a second band, Auf Geht's, alongside The Swinging Bavarians and ran until 9 p.m. The festival trimmed to 3-7 p.m. for its second year in October 2025. The Sandy Springs Crier described the 2025 edition as "a two-day fall weekend with live music, Bavarian cuisine and family activities."
The Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center produces the festival through its Signature Events Department, led by Anna Nikolas. The Sandy Springs Foundation, a nonprofit, handles fundraising and is accepting sponsorships for 2026.
When the city announced the inaugural OktoberFEAST on Sept. 4, 2024, Mayor Rusty Paul said the event would "enhance our vibrant event calendar, offering residents and visitors the chance to celebrate autumn with local crafts, seasonal foods, and lively entertainment."
The City Green at City Springs holds about 3,000 people, according to the Sandy Springs PAC.
