A Sandy Springs resident is questioning why police followed her, checked her identification and ordered her to leave Morgan Falls Overlook Park during an encounter she described in videos circulated Thursday, Oct. 8.
Marrón Jadore, an Atlanta-area realtor who is Black, alleges she was racially profiled. Her account has drawn widespread attention, but the available reporting does not establish why officers approached her or whether the encounter was unlawful.
In captions reproduced by The Nerd Stash, Jadore said an officer approached as she returned to her vehicle. He asked whether she was alone and had been on the phone, then requested her driver’s license.
Jadore said the license was in her vehicle. The officer followed in his patrol car as she walked toward it, and she asked nearby pedestrians to stay with her as witnesses.
“I feel very uncomfortable,” she said while recording. “Not really sure what is going on with these people.”
The encounter spread quickly on social media. An ATL Uncensored post on X about the incident drew more than 314,000 impressions, 6,000 likes and 1,300 reposts by Friday, Oct. 9.
Jadore said four police vehicles surrounded her while officers checked her information. After returning her license, an officer told her to leave.
According to Hip-Hop Vibe’s account of the footage, the officer referred to an investigation in the area and said the park had closed.
Jadore disputed that explanation, saying it was about 7:20 p.m. The city’s published park hours list Morgan Falls Overlook Park as open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
However, the adjoining Morgan Falls Connector trail has different hours: dawn to dusk. The precise location of the encounter and any temporary restrictions have not been independently established.
In its Oct. 8 report, AtlantaFi said no police statement addressing the encounter had appeared in available coverage. A department explanation or official records would be needed to establish the basis for the questioning and order to leave.
