Seven Riverwood softball players earned All-Region honors following a season that included a third-place region finish and a state playoff appearance.

Outfielder Audrey Busch received first-team recognition, according to Riverwood Athletics. Four Raiders made the second team: infielder Zoe Taylor, first baseman and infielder Stella Kuehn, outfielder Lizzy King and catcher Sydney Jimenez.

Infielder Finlay Waidelich and pitcher Caroline Crowley earned honorable mention.

The selections followed a separate honor for senior May Weis, who was named Region 7-6A Pitcher of the Year. Weis is committed to play at the University of South Carolina.

Riverwood finished the regular season 15-7-1 overall and 7-3 in region play, placing third, according to MaxPreps. The Raiders won their final four regular-season games, beating Centennial, Lanier, Chamblee and Roswell.

The team entered the playoffs at No. 17 in the GHSA’s Class 6A postseason rankings, earning a first-round matchup at Decatur.

That series ended Riverwood’s season. Decatur won both games Oct. 14, defeating the Raiders 2-1 and 4-3, according to results posted by Riverwood Athletics.

The postseason appearance was the third for Riverwood’s five-player senior class. In a tribute to the seniors, the school credited the group with four years as varsity starters and thanked them for their leadership and contributions to the program.
